In this article, I would like to introduce the attractiveness of “Aomori Prefecture” located in the Tohoku region. 

What is Aomori Prefecture? 

Aomori Prefecture is located in the northernmost point of the Japanese archipelago and is a prefecture with a population of about 1.2 million. Summers are relatively cool, winters are cold enough to snow, and the changing seasons are clear, so you can enjoy the beautiful nature of the four seasons.

Oma is a town located in the northern part of Aomori prefecture, and the tuna caught in Oma town is called “Oma tuna”. 

Oma tuna is a fish with a very high trading value because it is not only “delicious!”, But also is sent to the market in a fresh and scratch-free state by the traditional technique of fishermen. 

At the Tokyo Toyosu Market in 2019, one tuna from Oma was traded for 333.6 million yen, which became a hot topic.

Aomori Prefecture is well-known for its hot spring. 

The number of hot spring baths per 100,000 population is 23.7, which is the largest number in Japan.
